Announcing an Exciting New Workshop Series: A Cultural Exchange of Music, Dance, and Art Between Nottingham and The Gambia!
We are thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new series of workshops in selected Nottingham schools, celebrating an exciting cultural exchange between children in the UK and The Gambia. This exciting journey will take young participants on a creative exploration of West African folklore, fashion, music, dance, and visual arts!
Led by a fantastic team of workshop leaders, children will dive into aspects of traditions of West Africa, learning about everyday life and nature through rhythm, song, storytelling, and visual arts. They’ll explore the beats and movements of traditional West African music and dance, express their creativity through arts and crafts inspired by the landscapes and wildlife of The Gambia, and learn stories passed down through generations of West African culture. Thanks to Griot and Musician, Pa Bobo Jobarteh, for his leadership and guidance. We can’t wait to welcome him to the UK next year for a schools tour in Nottingham!
This series of workshops is not just a chance to learn new skills, but also a celebration of global connection, creativity, and community. It will inspire children to broaden their horizons, find joy in the arts, and share in a truly unique cultural exchange.
Stay tuned as we embark on this inspiring journey with young creators in Nottingham!
